Canon AT-1 Film Camera Test and Arista 200 Sample Photos - December 2024

Test roll of Arista EDU Ultra 200 black and white negative film on a Canon AT-1 camera and 50mm 1.8 lens. These were scanned with Negative Lab Pro software.

I recently shot a test roll of Arista EDU Ultra 200 black and white film through my Canon AT-1 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens — mostly to see how this film stock renders my everyday life.

This wasn’t a styled shoot or a client project. It was simply me photographing the day to day life. I had the negatives developed by Rainbow Photo scanned the negatives using Negative Lab Pro, which gave me great tonal control in post without stripping away the organic feel of the film.

The Arista EDU Ultra 200 surprised me with its softness in contract. The grain is subtle and it handled mid-tones beautifully. It may not be the most high-end stock out there, but it works great in my opinion compared to other film stocks twice the price.
