AccesSurf Hawaii

AccesSurf Hawaii has created a surf and aquatic community for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities. I partnered with them to provide portraits of the participating athletes on their “Day at the Beach” event. This event is held on the first Saturday of each month at White Plains Beach Park. It runs from 9AM-1PM and you can preregister on their website if you would like to participate or volunteer.

I set up a small studio at the event and photographed about 30 surfer participants. Seeing the kids so stoked was inspirational. It brought me back to the first wave I caught that got me addicted to surfing. Having a nonprofit like this in our community is so important. If you would like to participate in their event or volunteer check out their website.

The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun.
